The ESCALATE project, in which SUSTAINABLE CITY participates as a partner, aims to support the energy transition of cities through more efficient heating and cooling systems. These needs account for 80% of energy consumption in buildings, making them a key pillar in achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Following the workshop held by SUSTAINABLE CITY, the next step in the effort to promote the digitization of cities is the creation of a European ecosystem (European Digital Infrastructure Consortium - EDIC) for Local Digital Twins (LDTs) and CitiVerse – digital tools that enhance sustainable development, innovation, and citizen participation.
Digital twins are representations of cities that use data and artificial intelligence for real-time simulation. This enables municipalities to make better decisions on issues related to transportation, energy, urban development, and quality of life. On 7-8 July 2025, SUSTAINABLE CITY participated in the 4th Meeting of the European project RISKADAPT, hosted by the Municipality of Trieste. The meeting brought together all partners and was an important opportunity to exchange knowledge on technical issues, get acquainted with the platform and discuss the development of the project.
On the second day, an educational workshop was held in which useful information on the technical characteristics and capabilities of the PRISKADAPT platform, instructions and examples for its proper use, as well as explanations of its content were given. On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the 2nd online Participatory Planning Workshop of the European project CLIMRES, organized by SUSTAINABLE CITY, was successfully completed.
The workshop was attended by staff members from the technical service and the Civil Protection service of the Municipalities of Acharnes and Kifisia, within the framework of the Greek pilot. On 19-20 June, the 2nd meeting of the European project CLIMRES took place with the participation of staff from SUSTAINABLE CITY and representatives of the other partners.
The project team met in Milan to discuss the progress made in the first year of the project and the next steps to follow. Capacity Building Training Programme for Young Energy Ambassadors for the Poweryouth project3/6/2025
In the framework of the European project POWERYOUTH, funded by the LIFE programme, SUSTAINABLE CITY successfully implemented the Young Energy Ambassadors Capacity Building Training Programme, aiming to strengthen the participation of young people in energy communities in Greece.
Eight young people aged 18-30 participated in an intensive two-day training combining theoretical training with practical experience. Through the exchange of good practices, theoretical knowledge, practical exercises and field visits to places of interest, the training aimed to equip young people with the necessary skills to launch their own energy initiative and to actively participate in the energy transition of their regions. |
