The 4th General Assembly of the DECIDO project was held on 15-16 March 2023 in Vuokatti, Finland, where project partners from each partner country gathered to discuss the progress made during the first experimental phase, as well as the next stages of the project. The SCN team was among the participants and contributed significantly to the discussion on the different approaches and methodologies for the formulation of emergency policies, presenting the actions that have been carried out for the creation of a policy regarding the prediction of power outages on the island of Halki. Approval of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan of the Municipality of Chalki Island2/3/2023
We are glad to announce that the City Council of the Municipality of Chalki Island approved the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), which was submitted to the European Covenant of Mayors. The Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy is the main European initiative that brings together thousands of local governments that voluntarily commit to increase energy efficiency and the use of Renewable Energy Sources in their areas. On 14 December 2022, the European Project "SETOFF" was presented at the 6th Annual Conference and General Assembly of Sustainable City Network in Athens. In the third and last session of the conference, entitled "Best practices in municipalities and innovative applications", Mr. Michail Chalaris, assistant professor at the International Hellenic University and coordinator of the project, presented to the participants the main objectives of the project and invited the Municipalities-members of the Sustainable City Network to participate in the actions to be implemented. The cities network "SUSTAINABLE CITY" organized its 6th Annual Conference and General Assembly at CROWNE PLAZE Athens Hotel, on 14 December 2022. On the key topic "The Challenge of the Energy Crisis – Opportunities for Municipalities", SUSTAINABLE CITY Network invited to the Conference all Mayors of its municipalities-members, as well as important representatives of the Government, the Mayors of Attica and representatives of other relevant bodies. The keynote speech of the Conference was delivered by the representative of the European Support Office of the Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy, Mr. Pedro Bizzaro, while an address was delivered by the Director of External Resources and Knowledge Strategy of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, Mr. Durmish Guri. The honorary guests from the European Union emphasized the climate change challenge and Europe’s effort and planning towards alleviating the problem through initiatives such as the Covenant of Mayors. The 2nd Transnational Meeting of the European Project SETOFF took place on 21-22 November in Benaguasil, Spain, with the participation of 17 representatives of the partner institutions from North Macedonia, Greece, Belgium and Spain. The purpose of the project is to develop an innovative remote learning (e-training) programme based on a successfully tested and applied simulation model, incorporating the latest scientific knowledge and a comprehensive analysis of training needs. Sustainable City Network participates as the coordinator of the new three-year project “Sustainable Tourism Innovation Through Hybrid Project Management – HyPro4ST”, which was officially launched and held its Kick-off Meeting in Athens on 22-23 September 2022. This project aims to implement an innovative and holistic approach in providing solutions in education to promote the sustainable development of the tourism sector through the creation of a new job profile named "Sustainable and Hybrid Project Manager". It also aspires to improve the knowledge and skills of people working in the tourism sector in the field of sustainable, hybrid, digital, creative, and entrepreneurial project management. |
