The Cities Network "SUSTAINABLE CITY" participated in the 2nd Living Streets event, organized by the Municipality of Elliniko – Argyroupoli during the European Mobility Week (16-22 September 2022). Living Streets took place in Ethnikis Antistasis Square and the surrounding streets of Elliniko from 16 to 18 September 2022.
The Living Streets initiative was first introduced in Greece in 2021 with the contribution of SUSTAINABLE CITY Network, which selected two of its municipalities-members (Elliniko – Argyroupoli and Corinth) to implement it. Continuing this initiative for another year, the Municipality of Elliniko – Argyroupoli organized again this year its own Living Streets event focused on the theme "Move freely, Act Ecologically", while converting this initiative into a successful opportunity. Actively supporting the Municipality, SUSTAINABLE CITY Network stood in the centre of the activities by promoting the utilisation of biowaste in the context of the WaysTUP! project and alternative means of transportation together with EUROPE DIRECT Peloponnisos. In addition, the children who participated in the event had the opportunity to learn about waste sorting, the meaning behind the colour variety of the bins, and the circular economy, while having fun playing creative games such as "recycling and biowaste basketball".
