SUSTAINABLE CITY was selected by EUCF as the Responsible Network for the Energy Transition in Greece9/3/2020
The application made by SUSTAINABLE CITY to EUROPEAN CITY FACILITY (EUCF), which is set up under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union, was approved. The purpose of this initiative is to help European cities and Μunicipalities, through financial and technical support, overcome the barriers they face in implementing ambitious energy transition plans, develop relevant investment concepts, focus on energy efficiency and switch to Renewable Energy Sources. The EUCF has selected a National Network of local authorities from each country participating in the Programme, with a view to taking responsibility for promoting and disseminating the objectives, details and expected results. We are glad to announce that «SUSTAINABLE CITY» has been selected and has taken on such a responsibility in Greece, recognizing the network's ability to contribute to the benefit of Municipalities and cities in their energy transition, which is the first step towards a more sustainable Europe. For its implementation, funding of up to € 60,000 is provided in approximately 200 European cities and Municipalities, as well as supporting services related to the framework of the Programme. SUSTAINABLE CITY will focus on promotional activities and initiatives in order to inform all Municipalities on the objectives and details of the Programme, the funding, the implementation process and future prospects. In the coming months, SUSTAINABLE CITY will organize a half-day info session for potential beneficiaries in the country, in order to inform interested Municipalities about the characteristics of the Program and the application process. The evaluation process and the selection of proposals will then follow. SUSTAINABLE CITY in collaboration with ENERGY CITIES will provide support throughout the implementation of the Programme.
