European Proposal of Sustainable City with the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni and the NTUA12/12/2018
An important development in the Network’s attempt to help its members to claim EU funding is the approval from the pre-evaluation stage of a proposal submitted by SUSTAINABLE CITY in collaboration with the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The proposal concerns a transnational European project, with the participation of partners from 9 different EU Member States, whose general objective is to inform, raise awareness and mobilise citizens, focusing on young people, on sustainable energy and climate change issues. The coordinating partner is the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni. The proposal was submitted at the initiative and close cooperation of the three partners from Greece on 26th September 2018 in the European Call for Proposals titled "Raising public awareness of development issues and promoting development education in European Union" of the "Non-state bodies and local authorities" programme of the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development. This progress is very important since merely 1/3 of the submitted proposals have passed the pre-evaluation stage, thus bringing this proposal much closer to funding. The partners of the proposed project, apart from the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, are:
The overall objective of this project is to enhance the knowledge of European citizens and inspire them to actively participate in actions combating climate change and environmental degradation, as well as adopt sustainable living standards. The specific objective is to motivate and empower young people and local communities of the project's partners, whether they are members of the "Covenant of Mayors Initiative for Energy and Climate Change" or simply are in line with the promotion of sustainable living standards and climate change mitigation and adaptation actions. The proposal will benefit all Municipalities of SUSTAINABLE CITY, as the Network's core function beyond supporting the proposal, is to disseminate actions to its members. Comments are closed.
