The Municipality of Zitsa is a Municipality of the Regional Unit of Ioannina of the Region of Epirus. It was established in 2011 by the "Kallikratis" Programme through the merger of the pre-existing municipalities of Ekali, Evrymenon, Zitsa, Molossi and Pasaronos. It is located in the mid-western part of the Prefecture of Ioannina, from the borders of the urban complex of Ioannina to the borders with Thesprotia. Even though, the municipality was named after Zitsa village, the seat of the municipality is Eleousa town, which is located at the eastern end of the municipality. The Municipality borders the Municipalities of Pogoni and Zagori to the north, the Municipality of Ioannina to the east, the Municipalities of Dodoni and Souli to the south and the Municipality of Filiates to the west. It has a population of about 14,766 people according to the census of 2011, covering an area of about 565.6 sq.km.
