The Network of Cities "SUSTAINABLE CITY" held its 9th Annual Conference and General Assembly at Serafio of the Municipality of Athens on 17 December 2024 with the main topic "SUSTAINABLE CITY in the New Programming Period". On the occasion of a successful year for its activities, SUSTAINABLE CITY invited to the event all its member municipalities, important representatives of the government, as well as representatives of other relevant bodies.
The President of the Network and Secretary General of KEDE, Mr. Dimitrios Kafantaris, welcomed the attendees, presenting the evolution of the Network's activities to date and underlining the importance of networking for the Municipalities: "We have implemented more than 18 European programmes, we have submitted more than 60 European proposals and we have entered into many programme contracts with our municipalities. The more we are, the more we claim". The host Mayor of Athens, Mr. Haris Doukas, also made a welcome speech. Despite the fact that the Municipality of Athens is one of the newest members of the Network, the relationship between the two entities is well established, as they cooperate through the Athens Development Authority in the implementation of important projects and actions, such as the Energy Poverty Alleviation Office 
The events of the Municipality of Aigialia for the Living Streets project, which took place on Sunday 08 and Saturday 14 December, were successfully completed.
Sports, crafts, photography exhibitions, live music and many other activities made up 2 days that aimed to give the residents of the area and especially the young citizens a different picture of the busy streets of their city. 
The three-day Kick-off Meeting for the European Project Theseus Hub4Circularity "A First of a kind Hub for circularity demonstrator for Attica and peripheral regions" took place 03 - 05 December 2024. The meeting was hosted at the Serafio of the Municipality of Athens and was held hybridly to allow representatives from all 52 project partners to participate.
The aim of the project is to create a pilot hub for the validation of new or existing technologies and the development of solutions for water, energy and materials based on the needs of the region. 
The online workshop “Introduction to the Community Energy Certification Training Program”, organized by SUSTAINABLE CITY and ELECTRA ENERGY, was successfully completed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The interest of the participants exceeded all expectations, with dozens of representatives of municipalities and local authorities taking part. 
SUSTAINABLE CITY participates in the 1st Greek Workshop of the ENERGATE Project on "Energy Upgrading of Buildings in Greece: European Directions, Financial Instruments and Innovative Digital Tools", which will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Golden Age Hotel.
The European ENERGATE project is developing a digital energy efficiency “marketplace” where investors, energy service companies, owners, building managers and public bodies can exchange information and conclude agreements based on tailor-made financing schemes. 
SUSTAINABLE CITY is participating in the two-day Hearth Summit Athens, which will take place on October 31 and November 1, 2024, at Impact Hub Athens (28 Karaiskaki Street, Athens). The conference will bring together professionals and experts from various fields to discuss the future of sustainable cities.
On the first day of the conference, during the session entitled “Technological solutions for community energy production”, SUSTAINABLE CITY will present the European project POWERYOUTH, in which it participates as a partner. |
