POWERPOOR, SUSTAINABLE CITY, and the Municipality of Chalki are participating in the annual Urban Future conference, which will take place in Stuttgart from June 21 to 23, 2023. The event will bring together experts in urban development, local government representatives, entrepreneurs, and pioneers contributing to the sustainable development of cities.
On June 21, ICLEI Europe will coordinate a session on addressing the energy crisis, entitled “Power switch: tackling the energy crisis with emissions in mind.” With rising energy prices, more and more people are struggling to pay their bills and meet their obligations. Even before the recent price increases, around 35 million Europeans were unable to keep their homes adequately warm in winter. As a result, finding solutions to combat Energy Poverty and encouraging municipalities to take action has become essential. This session will explore how tackling energy poverty can serve as a strategic driver for promoting renewable energy sources, as well as how support programs for energy-poor citizens can be replicated and implemented in different contexts.
SUSTAINABLE CITY will participate with a delegation consisting of its General Manager, Mr. Ioannis Georgizas, the Mayor of Chalki, Mr. Evangelos Fragakis, and the Vice Mayor of Chalki, Mr. Vasilis Roussakis. During the conference, among distinguished speakers, the Vice Mayor of Chalki will deliver a presentation on the municipality’s actions and best practices regarding renewable energy production and the benefits of reducing energy poverty. The discussion will be moderated by Arthur Hinsch, Policy Officer for Climate and Energy Governance at ICLEI Europe. Comments are closed.
