Approval of the “Living Streets” project funding from the Green Fund

Living Streets returns and stops in three new municipalities!

We are very pleased to announce the approval of the funding of the proposal entitled “LIVING STREETS - Pilot conversion of streets into civic gathering places” submitted by SUSTAINABLE CITY to the Green Fund's “Natural Environment and Innovative Actions 2023” funding programme.

The aim of the project is to pilot the transformation of busy urban streets into places for citizens to gather, exchange ideas, develop social activities and promote soft forms of transport (e.g. by bicycle), through the partial or total prohibition of vehicle traffic. This change will make the city more sustainable by making it a better place to live and work, and citizens will be more involved in the decision-making process.

This project will be implemented by the Municipalities of Aigialia, Kavala and Karpenisi.

The start date for the implementation of the project has been set for 1 December 2023.
